Add $(FLAGS) when testing for zlib/lzma support.

* If zlib/lzma isn't in the usual spot, it won't be used,
  even if `$CFLAGS` and `$LDFLAGS` add the location it is in.
* Update the test code snippets to not trigger any warnings.
