Lapis Lazuli and Pyrite spawn above ground like in real life.

lapis gives gems which can be used for blue dye or crafted into blocks, which
can be cooked into lapis cobble for tiles.

Pyrite gives pyrite lumps which can be cooked into ingots and made into blocks.

An X shape of lapis brick with pyrite ingots inbetween give a Lapis & Pyrite
decorative brick, which can also be crafted into tiles.
